Riphah University approves budget for next year

ISLAMABAD:27 June: The eleventh meeting of Board of Governors (BoG) of Riphah International University was held on Tuesday in the federal capital. The BOG approved the budget of the university for the financial year 2012-13. It also gave approval to the proposal to hold seventh convocation of the university on December 29, 2012.

The founder chancellor Maj Gen (r) Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali Khan presided over the meeting. The RIU is chartered by the federal government and the president of Pakistan is its patron.

Under the charter, the BOG is the highest body to make decisions and formulate policies regarding the university. The BOG includes representatives of the government, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and eminent educationists and scholars.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anis Ahmad presented a report of the activities of the university and highlighted the achievements in various fields during the past ten years. He said the federal government approved the Charter of Riphah International University in 2002. “During the following ten years, we have improved the quality of our education, research standards and personality building of our students with focus on interpretation of Islamic ethical values.”

The members of the board appreciated the performance of the faculty members, students and management of the University for achieving goals as per its mission statement.

The BoG also approved the budget of the university for the financial year 2012-13. It also gave approval to the proposal to hold seventh convocation of the university on December 29, 2012. The meeting was attended by the members of the boards and high officials of the university, including the Pro Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan, Vice Chancellor Dr Anis Ahmad, HEC nominee Prof Dr Saeeda Asadullah, Dr Muhammad Bilal, Dr GsA Miana, and Islamic International Medical College Trust Executive Director Asadullah Khan.Daily Times.
