LGS student excels in Biology Olympiad

Islamabad:18 August: Hafsa Shahab, a student of the Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Islamabad Branch, received a bronze medal in the 23rd International Biology Olympiad, which was hosted in Singapore from July 8 to 15, says a press release.

About 236 students from 59 countries participated in the event. Hafsa Shahab was one of the three participants from Pakistan. The three participants to represent Pakistan were selected on the national level through the National Biology Talent Contest. Initially there was a countrywide screening test through which the top 52 were selected and called for a week long training camp at NIBGE, Faisalabad. Based on the result of these 4 tests the students were short listed from 52 to 17 to 9 and finally 3. The results of these tests were tabulated and students that ranked the highest were given medals.
