ANP established 35 colleges in KP, says minister

KARAK: Provincial Minister for Higher Education Qazi Mohammad Asad has said the Awami National Party-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had established 35 degree colleges in the province and also approved a degree college for girls in Banda Daud Shah tehsil of Karak district.

He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Government Girls’ Degree College at Sabirabad here on Friday as chief guest. The minister said no nation could progress without education. While comparing education budget with the neighbouring India, he said Pakistan was spending only 1.2 percent of its total budget on education, while India 6.1 percent. He said the sons of poor parents who couldn’t afford education fall victim to terrorists who put them on the wrong path.

Qazi Asad said the Girls’ Degree College, Sabirabad, would be built at a cost of Rs120 million. He approved more funds for the construction of hostel for the staff of the college along with a bus for the college.The news
