PESHAWAR :25 April: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti Tuesday here chaired a high level meeting regarding ongoing mega projects in Peshawar.
Briefing comprising progress on mega projects in Peshawar and proposed projects for controlling traffic problems in Peshawar was presented during the meeting.
Participants of the meeting were Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Ahamd Bilour, Provincial Minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah and Syed Aqil Shah, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries Finance, P&D, Local Government and C&W, Director General PDA Qazi Laiq and concerned authorities.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction on quality and pace of work on Arbab Sikandar Khan Flyover and Mufti Mehmood Flyover and hoped that the projects will be accomplished in stipulated time. However, he expressed concern over delay of work on Ring Road southern section and directed concerned committee for presenting its recommendation within seven days.
The meeting principally approved PDA proposed Asfandyar City and commencement of work on 3rd flyover at Hayatabad Phase-III chowk.
Ongoing projects including Arbab Sikandar Khan Khalil Flyover, Mufti Mehmood Flyover, Peshawar Ring Road Southern and Northern section and sewerage treatment facilities were reviewed in detail during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that equipping the youth with knowledge is the only solution for eradication of extremism from the country.
He said that promotion of education in challenging circumstances was part of government's priorities. He was talking to Chairman Higher Education Commission Javed A. Laghari and Executive Director Sohail H. Naqvi who called on him here Tuesday.
He said that work on spending more and more resources on establishing higher education institutes and education sector in the province in light of 18the Amendment is gradually moving ahead.
Matters pertaining to administrative and funding problems confronting the universities after 18th amendment and certain recommendations were reviewed in detail during the meeting.
Chairman HEC hailed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's steps for promotion of higher education and said that future of nation and country is link to education. The Chief Minister threw detailed light on government initiatives regarding higher education in the province.
He said that establishment of separate university in Karak has been approved while the government is also fulfilling its responsibilities in connection with legislation and provision of land. Rs.250 million has been provided in for acquring land.APP.
