ISLAMABAD:10 February: Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Secretary Imtiaz Inayat Illahi on Thursday said that a high-powered committee of legislators will decide about giving the administrative control of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) to CADD or retaining its existing status, in its upcoming meeting.
"The proposal to give its control to CADD is under discussion of a high-powered committee, which will decide whether FBISE will continue working under the Ministry of Professional and Technical Training (P&TT) or if it will go to CADD,” he said while talking to APP.
The process of shifting control of departments under one or other authority is a process which is mandatory after devolution under 18th Amendment of the Constitution and the committee will come up with some decision after consulting all the stakeholders, Imtiaz said.
After the devolution process, FBISE was supposed to stay under CADD but it was transferred to the Ministry of Professional and Technical Training.
The departments which were to stay under CADD included FBISE, National Education Assessment System (NEAS), Academy of Education and Planning Management (AEPM), National Book Foundation (NBF) and National Education Foundation (NEF).
Meanwhile, FBISE Chairperson Dr Shaheen Khan said the "giving control of FBISE to CADD is just a rumour and nothing has been decided and conveyed to us so far".
"If there is some proposal to shift its control to CADD, it will be a wrong step,” she said.
Shaheen Khan said that FBISE is an international level board and how its control can be given to CADD, which is supposed to look after the affairs of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). app.
