ISLAMABAD:13 June: IRADAH, a rehabilitation centre for the disabled, organised “An Evening with Persons with Disabilities” at National Institute of Special Education (NISE) on Tuesday.
Special Education Director General Mustafain Kazmi was the chief guest. Persons with disabilities along with children, representatives of various corporate sector organisations, general public and media persons attended the event. The event was started with a welcome note by IRADAH Advocacy and Communications Manager Zulqurnain Asghar.
A documentary on the life of IRADAH founder, the late Izhar Hussain, was also shown at the occasion. IRADAH Executive Director Saleem Malik shared the work done by the center and its future plans. Children with disabilities, studying at IRADAH School for Deaf Children, presented a tableau, while persons with disabilities shared their successes and the problems they faced in their everyday lives. They told the audience what they expected from society in general. An auction was also held.
Various products made by persons with disabilities were auctioned at the occasion. Persons with disabilities had established a stall at the venue to sell their products. Regional Manager, Corporate Sales (North) Aijaz Mustafa, speaking on the occasion, highlighted Telenor Pakistan’s programme ‘Karo Mumkin’ and its contribution towards making Pakistan a better place for people in general and for persons with disabilities in particular. Mustafain Kazmi congratulated IRADAH for organising such a wonderful event, and gave assurance to both the organisation of all kinds of support.Dawn.
