Islamabad: 27 Oct: Department of Physics, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on “Application of Ionizing Radiations in everyday Life, Its Hazards & Protection” here on Tuesday in collaboration with Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA). Asad Ejaz Goraya, Senior Scientific Officer, PNRA was the spokesman / guest speaker of the seminar. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, Dean FBAS, IIUI presided over the seminar while Dr. Ghulam Yasin Chuhan, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IIUI, Dr. Waqar Adil Sayyed, Chairperson Department of Physics, IIUI, Faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar.
Mr. Asad Ejaz Goraya gave a brief presentation on the Hazards and Safety measures from the Radiation. He said that we should initially promote an awareness campaign how to protect our environment. He added that the purpose of the seminar was to give awareness about the safe operations of the radiation based facilities and to protect the students, teachers as well as the environment from the hazardous radiation effects.
Dr. Waqar Adil Syed gave a brief introduction of the department and its academic programs and said that the department has acquired some radiation based equipment and installed recently.
At the end Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, gave his concluding remarks about the activity and emphasized on the importance of the awareness regarding the safety measures and the hazards of the Ionizing Radiations.
