International conference at Hazara University

PESHAWAR:August 25: The Department of Archaeology, Hazara University Mansehra, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission Islamabad will hold a three-day international conference, “Rediscovering the Silk Route” from September 5.
“It will be the first of its kind in our university and local and foreign scholars would explore the legacy of the Silk Route,” said Dr Abdul Samad, Head of the Department of Archaeology, while speaking at a meeting of the organisers at the university campus, said a press release.
He said the conference would provide a forum to scholars and researchers to share their findings on any aspect related to the Silk Route.Dr Abdul Samad said the Silk Route had earned a high place in terms of archaeological heritage, cultural legacy, scriptural and lingual interaction.
The Silk Route has been serving as the main and the safest path for the caravans and convoys between Pakistan and China and beyond,” he added.The archaeologist added the tourism industry had a good potential of growth and marketing due to many places of interest along the Silk Route and in the adjoining areas.He hoped the conference would generate interest in the cultural heritage of Pakistan among the people at home and abroad.The news.
