It is high time to make education result oriented

PESHAWAR:25 April: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that keeping in view the importance of education to sustain socio-economic uplift process, "indeed there is a need to be more realistic in materializing the national priorities in this respect".
This, he added, is a genuine issue and it is the high time to make education performing efficiently in a result oriented way in our institutions of higher learning. Presiding over a high level meeting at Governor House here on Tuesday, the Governor said, universities are the source of wisdom and their vital role in the nation building process demands to be more conscious towards the future needs.
The Chairperson of the Higher Education Commission, Dr. Javed R-Laghari and its Executive Director, Dr. Sohail H. Naqvi attended the meeting on a special invitation to discuss the affairs of the public sector universities of the province wherein provincial secretary Higher Education, Mrs. Farah Hamed and Secretary to Governor Mr. Muhammad Abid Majeed, Vice Chancellors of U.E.T Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and Prof: Dr Ihsan Ali; and the Director of Institute of Management Sciences Dr. Nasir Ali Khan were also present.
Referring to the suggestions pin-pointed on this occasion particularly to further augment the research and development oriented projects in various public sector universities in the province, the Governor assured to take up their stance at the highest forums in making this possible.
Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed the pace of progress on the state of ongoing research and development projects in various public sector universities and their future needs in this connection as well.
The meeting was informed that currently work on 122 research and development projects is in progress at a cost of Rs.20 billions in the public sector and they are also in the process to launch new research and development projects in various disciplines.F.P.Report.
