Japan to give $88,175 for school construction

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Japan has decided to extend financial support of $88,175 (approx. Rs7.4 million) to the Learning Awareness and Motivation Programme (LAMP) for construction of primary school in Raziq Kalay, Khyber Agency, Fata.

The agreement for the project was signed on Thursday, at the Japanese Ambassador s residence in Islamabad between Hiroshi OE, the ambassador of Japan to Pakistan and Nawabzada Fazal Karim Afridi, chief executive of LAMP.

The grant will be utilised for the construction of primary school comprising of six classrooms, one office and four toilets. In addition, desks and chairs will also be provided for the students.

At present, the students of this village are studying under the open sky, sitting on the ground. There are many cases where the students, particularly young girls and boys, give up attending school due to miserable conditions of the existing schools despite their desire to continue their studies. With this project, about 200 children will be able to easily access the new school, which provides them with an opportunity for basic education in a safe and comfortable learning environment.The news.
