PESHAWAR:23 May: Governor Masood Kausar has said Khyber Medical University (KMU) should ensure ample opportunities of studies and research to the students of medical sciences and develop a mechanism for provision of quality teaching facilities at the affiliated colleges.
Presiding over the fifth meeting of the KMU senate on Monday, the governor particularly referred to working of private medical colleges affiliated to it and stressed for maintaining proper mechanism for ensuring efficient system through which working of such institutions could be ensured up to the mark.
The meeting besides others was also attended by the secretaries health, administration and finance departments. Prof Dr Hafeezullah, vice-chancellor of the university, highlighted the achievements; prevailing state of working and future goals for further promotion of research and educational activities of the university.
Meanwhile, the meeting thoroughly discussed agenda items and took decisions. The meeting also approved certain amendments in service statutes 2008 of the university; law ensuring amicable working atmosphere in institutions and affiliation of certain private health educational institutions.
Formal approval of the shifting of the Kohat Institute of Medical Sciences from Kohat University of Science and Technology to Khyber Medical University was also approved by the senate.
The senate okayed its budget estimates for the year 2011-12 and actual budgetary expenditures for the year 2010-11 as well as the annual report. Earlier, Prof Dr Hafeezullah highlighted the Khyber Medical University working and said that the university with its six constituent institutions was offering PhD and M Phil studies besides masters and graduate programmes in various disciplines and with the return of more scholars currently doing their higher studies abroad, almost all its constituent institutions would be in a position to offer PhD level studies.
The university, he added, was offering educational facilities of unique nature in certain cases in the country and with the further development of all its constituent institutions, its working will become exemplary at the national level in all respects.The news.
