PESHAWAR:May 24: Governor Masood Kausar on Wednesday said education was the key to promoting an egalitarian society to make the youngsters adapt to constructive civic and cultural norms to become good citizens.
He said the menace of terrorism and extremism in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) deserved special consideration as low literacy rate among the tribespersons was one of the major causes of their sufferings.
Addressing the 8th convocation of Sarhad University of Science and Technology; an institution in the private sector in Peshawar, he said the educational institutions should help the government promote academic activities and contribute to secure a better future for the tribal people. “Let us help our coming generations fight ignorance by providing them good education,” Masood Kausar said, adding untiring efforts were needed on part of all stakeholders to make our youth good Muslims and good Pakistanis.
“We must strive to gain prestige in the field of education at the national and international level. I assure you the government will provide all-out support and patronage to achieve the desired goals,” he stressed.
Masood Kausar asked the teachers and academicians to renew the pledge and commitment to work wholeheartedly to secure a bright future for the next generation and make Pakistan a developed country.
The governor told the graduates their capabilities and skills would be put to test as they were now entering practical life and asked them not to shy away from challenges. He reminded them that the real test of their capabilities would start at the time when they would practically apply the knowledge and skills they had gained at the institution.
Masood Kausar advised them to be optimist; courageous and patient and contribute to the development of the country. “Your constructive and productive contribution to the promotion of your profession will itself be a real service to all those who matter in your lives,” he added.
