ISLAMABAD:07 February: Doctor Anwar Nasim, renowned scientist and recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance Award, has said it is the responsibility of teachers to create student’s interest in science so that they perform better in the field.
Nasim made this statement while speaking on ‘Pleasures of Science’ organised by Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) under its science popularisation programme ‘Popular Lecture Series’. PSF Chairman Professor Dr Manzoor Soomro presided over the event, which was attended by a large number of teachers, students and scientists.
He advised science teachers to benefit from PSF’s inquiry-based learning programme so that students could show more interest in the subject. Nasim said lack of understanding of social development was hindering development of science in the country and talked about the role of non-governmental individuals (NGIs).
He stressed the need for an effective triangle of government, non-government organisations and NGIs for national development.
PSF Chairman Prof Manzoor H Soomro in his address highlighted different science popularisation programmes of the foundation, especially the inquiry-based science-learning programme.
