MANSEHRA: The national and international non-governmental organisations could not carry out reconstruction work in schools in Mansehra due to a recently imposed ban.
The sources said the NGOs had to get prior permission from the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for visiting an educational institute or carrying out any reconstruction work.
The ban was imposed by executive district officer (Education) Mansehra on Wednesday last. However, a communiqué issued by the Information Department made it clear that the ban was not imposed on the NGOs, which were involved in reconstruction of the schools.
Sources in the department disclosed that male and female officials of the NGOs used to go directly to the girls schools in the name of sensitisation and other activities, which irked the local community and they angrily reacted to the practice.The news.
