PESHAWAR, Sept 25: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Masood Kausar on Saturday said he would soon call a meeting of vice-chancellors of the province’s public sector universities over denial of pay raise to the employees.
A delegation of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) met the governor here on Saturday and apprised him of its demand.
The FAPUASA office-bearers, however, said that teachers and other employees of universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would continue with their boycott until 15 per cent increase in salary in line with the government announcement was notified.
University teachers and other staff in the province had gone on a strike on Friday for pay raise.
Provincial FAPUASA president Dr Johar Ali said that the federation was thankful to the governor for sparing time for the meeting. He, however, said boycott of work by university staff in the province would continue until the government directed the vice-chancellors to notify the increase.Dawn.
