Peshawar University Chemistry Workshop For College Teachers

Peshawar: 17 June: The U.N general assembly as designated the year 2011 as the “International Year of Chemistry” with the slogan: “Chemistry –our life, our future”
The Institute of Chemical Science (ICS) is celebrating the international year of chemistry, IYC 2011. Different Programs, including popular lectures, exhibitions, seminars, symposia, workshop, etc. are planned for the IYC 2011. The Chemistry model exhibition held on Feb 9 th, 2011 was a great success.
More than 40 models from 25 institutions/colleges/schools were displayed in this exhibition. Under IYC 2011 the next program was holding exhibition of research based poster on Wednesday, 9 th March 2011.
More than 50 Research posters were on display. Research scholars of the public sector universities from the greater campus of the University of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in this exhibition.
The goal of IYC 2011 includes; increase public appreciation of chemistry and the interest of young people in chemistry. In this regard, the ICS is planning to organize a workshop on 4-year BS Program in Chemistry for the teachers of Government Colleges of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This workshop is jointly organized with the Higher Education Department of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa at the summer campus of baragali from Jan 30 to July 4, 2011.
To chalk out plans for the workshop, a meeting of the faculty of ICS, GPGC Haripur, GC Peshawar and PMU-HED was held on Jun 14, 2011 at 10:00 am at ICS. Prof Mohammad Tariq, Director PMU-HED appreciated the efforts of the ICS for organizing this activity. Suggestions from the participants were recorded and it was decided to make it a meaningful academic event. Imdad Mohammadzai, Professor & Director ICS, chaired the meeting. He highlighted the importance of BS program and thanked all the participants.
