Peshawar: 04 June: Peshawar University (Upesh) has announced that Ph. D research scholar Muhammad Ismail has successfully defended his thesis in an oral defence held at Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar. The topic of his research was Prevalence, clinical importance and predictors of potential drug to drug interactions in different wards of tertiary care hospital setting.
During his research work, the researcher analyzed clinical profiles of 2015 patients for drug interactions. He concluded that drug interaction may lead to toxicity, undesirable effects or in effectiveness of drug therapy. His study recommends that these interactions should be carefully monitored while prescribing drugs to the patients.
The oral defence was followed by a series of question answer session after which the scholar was recommended for the award of a Ph. D degree.
Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal was supervisor of the scholar Muhammad Ismail while Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid was his co supervisor. Prof. Dr. Waqar Ahmed served as his external examiner.
