PESHAWAR:January 22: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Saturday said that promotion of education was the topmost priority of the government.
All necessary facilities would be provided to students in government schools, he expressed these views after laying the foundation stone for the construction of two girls’ and one boys’ high school at the CMH Road.
The chief minister said his government was focusing on provision of all the facilities to students in government schools. Under ‘Stoori Da Pakhtunkhwa Programme’, the top 10 position holders in SSC and intermediate examinations were given Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 scholarships, respectively.
Hoti pointed out that despite limited facilities at government schools, students had produced good results. Similarly, Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa Scheme has also been launched under which two boys and two girls private schools would be selected from two union councils in different districts, where government schools did not exist, adding the government would bear the education expenses of the students of the selected schools.
Hoti said before his government there was no university and a medical college in Mardan but today with the blessing of Almighty Allah, Abdul Wali Khan University and Baacha Medical College were functioning while four more girls’ degree colleges would be commissioned during the current year in the district.
He stressed on the students to concentrate on their studies as the nation pinned high hopes on them for earning fame for the country and achieve a prominent position among the comity of nations.
