PESHAWAR:25 September: Federation of All Pakistan Universities Staff Association (FAPUASA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter has requested provincial government to work as mediator between them and federal government to resolve the dispute of 20 percent increase in their salaries.
The request was made in the FAPUASA meeting on Monday at Agricultural University Peshawar. Dr. Hamayoun Provincial President of the organization said that provincial government's help could the teachers in getting the raise in their salaries and also save the future of students, for if the federal refuses to accept the demands of the teachers, they will have to go on strike to press for their rights. President of PUTA Professor Jamil Khan, its general secretary, Professor Fazal Nasir Khan, and President of Islamia College University Teaching Staff Association Professor Faisal Shehzad and others along with members of teaching staff from various universities attended the meeting.
Federal government had announced 20 percent increase in the salaries of government employees in current fiscal budget, according to FAPUASA; however, according to the teachers, the decision had not been implemented so far.
It was decided that teaching staff of all universities would endorse every decision by Dr. Hamyun.
Dr Hamayun assured the meeting that every possible step including shutting down the universities to protest against the unsympathetic attitude of the federal government.F.P.Report.
