ISLAMABAD:14 June: The National Research Institute for History and Culture (NRIHC), affiliated with the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, has been operating without a dean for the last seven years. Though the dean of Department of Social Sciences, of the Quaid-e-Azam University, namely Dr Aitzaz, is performing his duties as the acting dean of NRIHC, the research institute has been facing acute problems in running its administrative affairs. Sources said that a junior officer has been given the seat of director general of the institute and this appointment was made out of turn. According to an important officer of the institute, an advertisement was published in newspapers two years ago asking for applications for the post of dean of the research institute, and the applications were short-listed, it seems that the university administration lacks sincerity to proceed in this regard. However, the officer observed that the final decision regarding the appointment is expected within a month. The Quaid-e-Azam University spokesperson was contacted for his stance on the issue but he could not be reached. online.Daily Times.
