Islamabad:April 28:Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani is the voice of Seraiki people and it cannot be made silent. These were the words of a Seraiki students participating in the public solidarity show with prime minister and the cause of Seraiki province.
They said that conspiracies are being hatched against the creation of a separate Seraiki province. The public demonstration was organised by Siraiki Students Alliance (Islamabad-Rawalpindi). Dozens of Seraiki students from Federal Urdu University and Quaid-i-Azam University participated in the demonstration.
They participants shouted slogans in favour of PM Gilani and Seraiki province. “Seraiki people have fully given their democratic and popular verdict in favour of PM Gilani during the last day’s by-election in Multan. They have made the truth open that they would not further tolerate the oppression”, said Junaid Khosa, the chairman of Seraiki Students Council, Federal Arid University.
“Seraiki are peaceful people and they should not be pushed to extreme through repeated denial of their recognition and self-rule”, said another charged student.
The Seraiki students were later joined by the activists of People’s Students Federation. They also expressed solidarity with Seraiki students for the cause of Seraiki province. “The removal of Prime Minister Gilani will deprive Siraiki people from the symbolic representation in the federation. It will create further divisions and weaken the already fragile federation. The creation of a separate Seraiki province is the need of the hour”, said Abubakar, the Chairman of Seraiki Students Federation, Federal Urdu University.
