Students teachers protest against assault on boy

MITHI, June 28: A large number of students of Amar Jagdish Kumar Malani Boys High school, teachers and representatives of the Child Rights Protection Committee took out a procession on Wednesday in protest against police’s failure to arrest an accused who had sodomied a class VII student three days ago.

Addressing the procession outside the press club, speakers said that Akshy Kumar Maheshwari, student of class VII, had been admitted to the civil hospital after he was assaulted by one Ghulam Mohammad Bajir and an unknown man.

An FIR was lodged against the accused that day but police had not yet taken any action against the arrested, they said.

Ramesh Kumar, president of teachers’ body, Saindad Hingorjo, member of CRPC and others threatened to widen the protest if police did not arrest the accused.

Maheshwari Panchayat has also warned of protest if action was not taken against the accused.Dawn.
