Upesh Cultural and Creativity Day

Peshawar: 18 May: A one day cultural and creativity day was held at department of psychology, University of Peshawar in which twenty stalls depicting the culture, food and various traditions of Khyber Pakhtnkhwa and FATA were on display for the female students of University campus. Besides senior students of the psychology department did psychological and personality tests of the visitors to judge their personality aspects and various problems, they are confronted with.
The cultural and creativity day was formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz while Registrar UoP Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi and Chairperson Department of Psychology Dr. Mehr Bano were also present on the occasion.
The Vice Chancellor visited the stalls and took keen interest in the creative work done by the students. While talking to the students he said due to the prevailing law and order situation and terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA people of this area are passing through tremendous mental stress and psychological strain. He added that in such situation the role of psychologists becomes very important because they are the people who can solve much of their fears through counseling and help them build on the positive aspects of their characteristic traits.
Culture is the integral representative tool and true reflection of any society and we must promote the same to let the world know that pashtun are peace loving and a tolerant society, the Vice Chancellor maintained.
Chairperson Psychology Dr. Mehr Bano said that the department is offering BS four years, M. Sc, M. Phil and Ph. D courses to the students. She added that diploma in clinical psychology are being offered on yearly basis to professionals of this field in order to equip them with the latest therapies for treatment of patients with psychological disorders.
