PESHAWAR:10 September: Like other parts of the country “World Literacy Day” was also observed in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Sunday.
Various ceremonies were organized at educational institutions of Orakzai and Mohmand Agencies to mark the day, where the importance of literacy was highlighted.
Additional Political Agent Mohmand Agency Said Ahmad Jan and Assistant Political Agent Orakzai Agency Rafiq Khan were the chief guests while Agency Education Officers, concerned principals, teachers and hundreds of students from across the agencies attended the functions.
The events began with the recitation of Holly Quran whereas students presented Glory to Allah and prophet (PBUH), national anthems, songs and performed at stages. In speech competition, students highlighted the importance of literacy in this modern era. Addressing at the occasion Additional Political Agent Mohmand Agency Said Ahmad Jan and APA Orakzai Agency Rafiq Khan stressed that women education is the call of the day and those nations progress, which focus on education. “Education is the only weapon through which a nation can progress, they maintained.
They also stressed to hard work and study otherwise in his competitive environment they will remain far behind from the world.
They also distributed prizes and cash among the best performing students in speech competitions and awarded best teachers and students with certificates.F.P. Report.
