PESHAWAR: Entrance test for academic session 2011-12 of the University of Engineering and Technology was held on Sunday at the Kernal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium, Peshawar and Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad. A press release said the test was conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluating Agency (ETEA), Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa.
Around 12,600 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan took the test. The result will be announced within 36 hours and will be available on the ETEA website (www.etea.edu.pk) and UET website (www.nwfpuet.edu.pk). The result would also be displayed on the main notice board of the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar campus.
At the Peshawar centre, 10,938 candidates including 10,569 males and 288 females appeared in the test, for admission to engineering disciplines. Another 414 candidates appeared for admission in the Computer Science group and among them were 384 males and 30 females.
At the Abbottabad centre, 1574 candidates including 1404 males and 170 females took the test for admission in the engineering group. There were 28 male and 15 female candidates seeking admission in the Computer Science group.
Vice Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, who was present on the occasion, expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements for the conduct of entrance rest. He said the UET had provided every facility to all the candidates during the admission process. He added that the university would arrange an orientation week for the new entrants.
Syed Liaqat Ali Shah, additional secretary for Higher Education, Abdur Rauf Jamil, ETEA executive director, Prof Dr Hafizullah, vice chancellor, Khyber Medical University, Prof Dr Azzam ul Asar, dean Faculty of Engineering (UET), Prof Abdul Jabbar, UET registrar, Ahmad Murad, deputy registrar admissions (UET) and other senior faculty members were also present.
Besides 480 invigilators from ETEA, 45 test managers and staff of UET, Khyber Medical University and Peshawar Police were also present on the occasion. The Directorate of Admissions UET, under Prof Dr Sahar Noor, managed the process of entrance test.The news.
