ISLAMABAD: Following two explosions in the capital that luckily did not cause any casualty, the capital police in a meeting on Wednesday decided to beef up the security of educational institutions and enhance coordination among all wings of the police departments.
The police highups directed superintendent of police (SPs) to visit educational institutions located in their jurisdictions and deliver lectures to sensitise the students and teacher for taking appropriate security measures and ways and means to handle any emergency situation.
The meeting also decided to maintain close a liaison with the citizens of Islamabad to build their confidence over the police department.
Islamabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahir Alam Khan appealed to the citizens to inform police in case of observing any suspicious elements and promised that their names would not be disclosed.
Khan also increased the strength of members of security and vigilance committees and ordered to enhance patrolling in the city.
Security guards: Besides beefing up over all security of the capital, Islamabad police have taken a major step to check complete bio-data of security guards appointed at both public and private offices. Khan directed all Station House Officers (SHOs) to accomplish the task in their respective areas.
After the scrutiny of private security guards, they would be briefed about the sensitivities related to current security situation. The new initiative of the police will make them vigilant and they would be requested to immediately contact police in case of observing any mischievous elements or suspects.
The SSP also asked the police officials to remain in touch with trader community and urge them for installing the security cameras at various markets, trade centers and other important places.
