22 Jun:ISLAMABAD: Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Javed Leghari said on Tuesday that it would take two months to confirm the graduation degrees of all the assembly members and parliamentarians. He was talking to media representatives after an event of HEC.

“I have no pressure from any one to verify the degrees. Verification of 1200 degrees needs two months more,” he added.

He also expressed that there was no pressure from Prime Minister’s Secretariat or members’ parliament to halt the process of degrees verification.

The proper work for verification process is yet to be started.

Leghari further said that he had received 1098 degrees from election commission. He also stated allocation of budget for HEC is too low and that it would not be easy to announce any scholarship this year.

He said that HEC did not receive dues worth Rs10 billion that were outstanding previous year and because of this many of its projects had been facing financial problems. — DawnNews
