Margalla College for Women Competitions

Islamabad:The five-day inter-class competitions concluded at the Federal Government Margalla College for Women, F-7/4, here on Monday, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.

The competitions included ‘Naat’ and ‘Qiraat’, fresh and dry flower arrangements, Urdu poetry and prose recitation, poster making, English debates, card making, quiz, singing and collage work.

Principal Khadija Javed was the chief guest on the occasion. Students from intermediate and degree classes participated in competitions.

In ‘Qiraat’ competition, Samina Sabir won the first prize, while Neelam Ubaid stood second and Nidda Shehbaz got the third prize. In ‘Naat’ competition, Samina Sabir stood first, Zumeen Qadri secured second while Rafiqa-tul-Rasool got third position.

In ‘Fresh Flower Arrangement’ competition, Ambreen Bibi got first prize, Madeeha and Asiya Bibi bagged second position jointly while Bushra Gul got third position. While in ‘Dry Flower Arrangement’ competition, Madiha won first prize, Bushra Gul second and Asia Bibi got third prize.

On second day, the competition of Urdu poetry of Allama Iqbal and prose of Mirza Ghalib, Ibne Insha and Mushtaq Ahmad Yousufi, and poster making contest on Allama Iqbal’s poetry titled ‘Jawano ko meri aa he saher de’ were held. In prose recitation, Anam Ahmad and Nida Abbas won first prize, Samina and Faiqa Sana came second while Sumera Fareed got third prize. Mehwish Jabeen and Tayaba Saleem were given prizes for best performance. In poetry, Rubina Shad stood first, Mehwish Jabeen second and Shehnila Mazhar got third prize. While in poster painting, Ambreen stood first, Shumail second and Asiya third.

On third day, English debates and card making competitions were held. The topic of the debate was ‘Every fool can complain, criticise and condemn and most do’. Jaweria Mazhar won first prize, Rabia Zubair second and Asma Nisa got third prize.

In card making contest, Faiqa Sana and Memoona Aslam stood first, Madiha and Abida Bibi second while Asiya, Sehrish Gulzar and Qurat-ul-Ain got third position.

In the concluding ceremony, the college principal appreciated the spirit of students and congratulated the winners. “In the prevailing situation in the country, there is a need to keep our morale high and stand side by side with the government,” she added. THE NEWS
