One day the jackal learnt from a friend that there lay fields of sweet and ripe melons across the stream. The camel whose mouth watered on hearing accounts of sweet and ripe melons gladly acceded to his friend's request.
The camel carried the jackal on his back and soon they crossed the stream. They entered the field and fell to eating melons. The jackal being a small animal had soon his appetite satisfied. He thought of playing a trick on his friend and set up a terrible howl. The poor camel requested him to desist from doing this but the cunning jackal said it is my habit after a good meal I cannot help howling.
Farmers ran to the turn out the jackal who had hidden himself by this time. They came by the camel who got a sound beating and was turned out of the fields.
The camel thought it the proper time to have his revenge. The camel had a dip which frightened the jackal who requested the camel to desist from doing this the camel said It is my habit to roll in water after a sound haps the latter realized at the cost of his life that two could play at this game.
