Mansehra: A Science and Technology University will be established in Hazara and in this regard the initial feasibility report has been sent to the Prime Minister's Secretariat for further action, said Prof Sakhawat Shah, the vice chancellor of Hazara University, here on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Shah said that during his meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad last week the latter had directed him to prepare the feasibility report for the establishment of Science and Technology University in Hazara. He said that the prime minister had shown great interest in the establishment of the university.
He said that the Hazara University had sent the initial feasibility report for establishment of the Science and Technology University to the PM's Secretariat. He said that the new university was needed, as the students of Hazara division had been going to other parts of the country for getting the science and technology education.
Mr Shah said that campus of Hazara University in Haripur had the all the basic facilities to be upgraded as a full-fledged university. COMPENSATION:
The provincial government on Tuesday paid a compensation of Rs300,000 each to the relatives of NGO staffers who were killed in the terrorist attack on the offices of World Vision in Oghi last year.
On March 10, 2010 seven staffers of the World Vision were killed and six others injured when terrorists attacked their offices at Dogai area of Oghi tehsil.
Provincial food minister Shuja Salim Khan gave away the cheques for Rs300,000 each to the relatives of Mohammad Fahim and Imtiaz, and Rs100,000 each to Ihsanullah, Munir and Khushboo Bibi, who were injured in the attack. The government has already paid the compensation amount to the relatives of five other victims.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government was trying to address financial problems of the families, who lost their bread earners in the terrorist attacks.
He said that the government was taking tangible steps to get rid of militancy and ensure unhindered progress and development of the country. Dawn
