Research poster of HEC scholar wins award

Islamabad:The research poster ‘Contributions of Religious Institutions to Disaster Risk Governance’ by a Higher Education Commission (HEC) scholar has been awarded the Best Poster of the Year in Social Science Category, out of 200 submissions from all over the world, during the Annual Graduate Junction Poster Competition 2010.
The research poster was created by HEC scholar Abdur Rehman Cheema, PhD student of Development Studies at Massey University, New Zealand. He has presented his research in six international conferences in Christchurch, Wellington, Canberra, Daejeon, Abbottabad and Riyadh in the last three years.

His research explores ways and means to make Pakistan safer from natural hazards by examining the disaster risk governance structure of the country before and after the 2005 earthquake in Azad Kashmir.
Cheema is pursuing his doctoral studies under HEC’s programme ‘MS/MPhil leading to PhD in Economics and Finance Abroad’. Since the beginning of his PhD, his research work has been widely acknowledged.The news
