LAHORE  PUNJAB Minister for Finance, Planning and Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that the government is ensuring provision of free educational facilities to the deserving students  in professional colleges and Rs200 million has been allocated during the current fiscal year  or this purpose.

According to a handout issued on Sunday, Kaira stated this during a meeting with a  delegation of students. He said provision of educational facilities was the top most priority of the government and  practical measures were being taken for fulfillment of the responsibility. He said  administrative and financial training would be imparted to 500 teachers and besides the  establishment of 48 new colleges, 30 colleges would be granted status of model colleges while construction and repair of 70 colleges had been ensured.Mr Kaira said the government had allocated an amount of Rs9.1 billion for higher education  sector and it would bring revolutionary changes in the education system by eliminating the  difference between the poor and rich students. He said that higher education was a need of  the hour and role of the private sector had been important in this regard
