Karachi student of NED University was killed in a robbery attempt

Karachi:A student of NED University was killed in a robbery attempt on Thursday. Abdul Ahad, a varsity student was shot dead near his residence in Block-10, Federal B. Area in the jurisdiction of Gulberg police station.

His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he was identified as 22-year-old Abdul Ahad Faridi son of Kamal Faridi.

Police said that Faridi was a student of the NED University and was in the final year. The incident took place when an unknown culprit riding a motorbike came over and tried to snatch the mobile phone from Faridi.

The snatcher shot him in his head when he resisted. The deceased’s father is said to be an official in the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Ishrat Bibi, a newly-married woman, committed suicide at her residence in Machar Colony in the limits of Docks police station.

Bibi was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) in a critical condition by her family members where doctors pronounced her dead due to poisoning. Docks police said that Bibi had recently married Ishaq who was a fisherman by profession. They said that her husband had gone fishing since the last two days.

In another incident, body of a 35-year-old man was brought to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he was identified as Habibullah, son of Waliullah, a resident of North Nazimabad.

Sohrab Goth police said that the deceased hailed from the NWFP and used to work as a cleaner and was on duty at a truck stand at Lasi Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station, when he received a stray bullet wound in his head and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man identified as Ahmed Khan son of Abbas Ali Khan died when fire broke out at his home located at Sector 1, Pakhtoonabad within the limits of Manghopir police station.

Police said that the fire broke out due to leakage in the gas pipeline. The deceased recently got married and used to work as a bus conductor.
