Indian Schoolchildren Visit GC University Lahore
LAHORE :September 07: A delegation of 40 schoolchildren from India visited Government College University (GCU) on Friday.
The Indian students visited various departments of GCU including Sports Complex and Postgraduate Library and also met with GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman. Eminent Old Ravian and singer Shafqat Amanat Ali was also present. The students also enjoyed a musical performance at the GCU Nazir Ahmed Music Society.
Talking to students, Prof Rahman said India and Pakistan must learn to live in peace and harmony, and they should wage wars against poverty, ignorance disease and corruption.
The VC told Indian schoolchildren that renowned Indians like Dev Anand, Bulraj Sahni, Kamini Koshal, Kanaheya Lal Kapoor, Khushant Singh, Pran Nevel and many other personalities had studied from Government College Lahore before partition. He said the Indian Old Ravians, many of them retired army officials, had great love for their alma mater, and they often visited it. “It is the love that conquers, and hatred serves no purpose,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian students said they would never forget love and hospitality that they had received in Pakistan. They said Indians and Pakistanis were closer to each other culturally than geographically. They said they had made a lot of friends in Pakistan and also wanted them to visit India. Later, the Vice Chancellor also presented souvenirs to visiting guests. The news.
