Saifee College closed after vehicle set ablaze

Karachi, Oct 23: Some unidentified men set a college vehicle on fire within the jurisdiction of North Nazimabad police station. In the ensuing tension, the management decided to close the college.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when activists of the Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) in Saifee College held a photograph exhibition titled 'America Murdabad' and some 40 to 50 students affiliated with the IJT were present. The vehicle belonged to the SITE Government Technical College.

The program was almost over when the unidentified men poured kerosene oil on the bus and set it ablaze. The situation then became very tense.

Following this, heavy contingents of law enforcers arrived and took the situation under control. "The management of the college closed the college for the evening shift expecting a clash between the IJT and APMSO," said DSP Choudhry Safder, "The IJT has claimed that the rival group members set the vehicle on fire and wanted to register the case."

No FIR was registered till filing of this report. Daily Times
