 LAHORE:A special division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday adjourned until March 22 the case hearing of a Fatima Jinnah Medical College’s affiliation with the University of Health Science.

The court adjourned the hearing at the request of the counsel for the Punjab government as he could not file his reply.

On the last hearing, the LHC had suspended the Punjab government’s order under which the FJMC was disaffiliated with the University of the Punjab,linking it to the UHS. The bench comprising Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan ordered the counsel for the Punjab government to file his reply till next date of hearing.

Previously, the court had sought minutes of meetings which decided FJMC’s affiliation with the UHS.

LHC reserves judgment on A Q Khan case: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday again reserved judgment on the federal government’s petition to restrict the movement of nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan.

After holding brief in-camera proceedings, Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry observed that the court would announce judgment on March 22. On March 06, the court had reserved judgment for March 11.

The federation had taken a plea that different foreign journalists in their articles had written that they were in communication with Dr. Khan and also attributed sensitive discussion with him. The petitioner said that Dr. Khan should either deny or admit the claims made by the journalists.

Dr. Khan had also filed an application challenging the government’s ban on meeting his relatives and medical supplies to him under the garb of a court order. The judge had directed the federal government to allow provision of medical facility to Dr. AQ Khan and meeting with his relatives.

triple murder: The chief justice of the Lahore High Court on Thursday took suo motu of murders of Muhammad Nasir Advocate, his brother and a cousin at Ludhar Pind, Lahore and sought personal appearance of the SP Cantt and investigation officer along with record for March 12 (today).

Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif took suo motu after the Lahore Bar Association observed strike on March 10 to record protest against the triple murder. On March 9, advocated Muhammad Nasir, his brother and a cousin were murdered over an old enmity. Locals had protested the incident and blocked the traffic which created law and order situation.The news
