CSS exam 30-year age limit for candidates
30-year age limit for CSS exam sought

Peshawar, Oct 18: A group of affected candidates have urged the government to review the Federal Public Service Commission's rules and fix the age limit at 30 years for the aspirants so that majority of candidates could get relief.

The affected candidates said, the age limit was brought down from 30 to 28 years by the Musharraf-led government, and the step was benefiting only a particular stratum of the society.

"The new age limit is benefiting those having resources, connections and opportunities to complete their masters well in time and avail all the three legitimate chances of the CSS, while those belonging to the middle class miss the chances as they normally do their masters late for a variety of reasons and financial constraints," they pointed out.

Some of the aspirants even wrote to the prime minister and the president but no decision was made.

The candidates said the FPSC was about to announce the rules for the CSS 2009 and the government should ask the commission authorities to revisit its rules and suggest to the government as to how it could fix the age limit for the CSS at 30 years, so that a number of bright and talented aspirants from the middle class could also appear in the examination.
