Queen Mary College Fee up by Six Hundreds
Lahore:July 09: The Board of Governors of the Queen Mary College Lahore has approved increase in the annual tuition fee from Rs6,000 to Rs6,600 per annum here on Monday.
The additional income to be yielded through the increase in fee would be utilized for expenditure on the recruitment of new teachers and other staff, if required, on an emergency basis.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood while presiding over the meeting of the BoG said that formal rules for temporary hiring of the staff be formulated and the principal would be bound to get prior approval of the board before recruiting additional staff.
He further issued directions for the Higher Education Department to identify grey areas in the management of the Queen Mary College Lahore and ensure that college funds were utilized according to the treasury rules 1988.
He minister expressed his resolve to transform all the autonomous educational institutions into centres of excellence and ordered conduct of the annual performance audit of the teachers of Queen Mary College Lahore. A detailed third party evaluation of all the expenditures might also be done to ensure a transparent mechanism in this regard, he added.
The meeting of the BoG also gave approval to the budget of the college for the current financial year besides according retrospective approval to the expenditures incurred during the fiscal year 2012-13.

 

The meeting was told that the Punjab government had allocated Rs140 million as grant in aid to the college from the Provincial Consolidated Fund and the college administration had a kitty of Rs80 million which was collected from the students as college welfare fund in the garb of different expenditures, including “Burqa” fund.
MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik, former MPA Ghazala Saad Rafique, educationists Dr Khalid Hameed Sheikh, Perveen Awan and Dr. Saeed Ahmad Nagra participated in the meeting besides representatives of the civil society, Aamir Khalid Sheikh and Reema Ayyaz. The departments of Higher Education and Finance Department were also represented in the meeting by some junior officers.The news.
