Punjab University (PU) signs collaboration accord with Bielefeld University

Lahore: The Public Health Medicine Department of the Bielefeld University, Germany, and the Punjab University (PU) signed an agreement of academic collaboration on Thursday.

PU External Linkages Director Prof Dr Najma Najam signed the agreement after here meetings with the German university academics during her visit to Bielefeld University. Prof Dr Rukhsana Kauser and Dr Shahida Tanveer were also with her.

The Bielefeld University Centre for Interdisciplinary Research director had invited the PU delegation on an official visit.

According to the agreement, the PU junior and senior faculty members would visit the German university under a faculty exchange programme and collaborate with their German colleagues for joint research publications.

The agreement said the German professors would act as PhD examiners for the PU students and external reviewers for professorial positions and that the PU academicians' scientific work would be published in German research journals.

Students: The agreement said the PU would facilitate the German students working on developing countries to collect data and do internship in Pakistan.

The agreement said PU master's and PhD students would visit the German university for one semester, for two years, or for the whole duration of a degree. The PhD students would visit the Bielefeld University and consult German libraries to complete their review on literature, the agreement added.

The PU delegation also explored the opportunities for joint research projects on environment, global warming, and problems of large cities, food insecurity and international migration. Daily Times
