Rawalpindi Medical College Mark Anti-Dengue Fever Day
Rawalpindi :August 19: Rawalpindi Medical College and allied hospitals, district health department and the district allied departments serving under city district government observed Anti-Dengue Fever Day here on Sunday on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
To observe the day, administration of RMC and allied hospitals organised a walk in Benazir Bhutto Hospital that was led by Commissioner Rawalpindi Khalid Masood. Principal RMC Professor Dr. Mohammad Umar, ADCG, Executive District Officer (Health) Dr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal, BBH chief Dr. Asif Qadir Mir, Additional Medical Superintendent at BBH Dr. Masood Pervez along with administrative staff of the hospital, nurses and paramedics participated in the walk.
The participants of the walk completed a round of the hospital. The walk concluded at the administration block of the BBH where the chief guest, Commissioner Rawalpindi, addressed to the participants.
The BBH administration also carried out a cleanliness campaign in connection with Anti-Dengue Fever Day under which insecticidal spraying was done in all wards of the hospital along with emergency and paediatrics departments.
A similar walk and awareness seminar was organised at Rawal Town office which was led by Administrator Rawal Town.

 

A walk and seminar were also organised at the office of Executive District Officer (Health) for awareness while all district allied departments carried out activities to clear their premises from unnecessary water reservoirs on Sunday.

 

Also walks and awareness seminars were organised in all tehsils of Rawalpindi on Sunday to observe Anti-Dengue Fever Day on the special directives of the Punjab government. Assistant commissioners and deputy district officers (Health) supervised the activities carried out in tehsils.

 

Saeed Ahmed adds: Seminar of the district was held in Potohar Town Hall which was presided over by the DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar. After the seminar, a walk was also held to create awareness among the masses from Potohar Town to Kutchery Chowk. The walk was led by DCO.

 

Addressing the seminar, the DCO said that during next one and a half month, there is the danger of spreading of dengue-1 which is very dangerous for human life and it is the duty of every one to come forward and join hands with the government functionaries in the preventive efforts.

 

DO Health Dr. Khalid Randhawa and District Entomologist also addressed the seminar and threw lights on the importance of observing Dengue Day. They said that health department was using all its resources to curb the deadly disease but the cooperation of masses is sought to prevent the spreading of dengue larvae. A documentary film about dengue was also displayed in the seminar.

 

Similarly, Water and Sewerage Agency (Wasa) also arranged event in connection with dengue day which was also led by DCO, Sajid Zafar, Wasa Managing Director Mohammad Akram Soban, officials of water department.

 

Moreover, Rawal Town Municipal Corporation Administrator Mohammad Ali Randhawa, along with district health administration officials, also led a anti dengue walk from Town office to Raja Bazaar Chowk along with NGOS representatives.The news.
