Special Children join Cleanup Operation
Lahore :September 18: STUDENTS from Institute of Special Children, Shalimar Town, joined the Lahore Waste Management Company for a special cleaning and awareness activity in China Scheme. The LWMC, in the wake of dengue danger, is already making maximum efforts in terms of maintaining cleanliness, clearance of open plots from all kinds of solid waste including construction and demolition waste and organising mass awareness activities in the nook and corner of the city involving citizens and public representatives.

 

The anti-dengue walk was led by area MPA Ch. Shahbaz, AC Shalimar Town Asim Saleem, LWMC’s communication manager Memoona Arslan and LWMC operation manager Asif Iqbal, which was followed by hundreds of students, teachers and administration staff from Government Shadbagh College, Special Education Institution Shalimar Town, Lahore College for Women University Lahore, Government CDGL High School China Scheme, Government College for Boys China Scheme and Little Star School Shalimar Town.

 

The walk participants camped at a local marriage hall and distributed awareness material. The participants went door to door to make residents aware of dengue danger and also stressed the need for keeping surroundings clean and waste free to avoid various diseases including dengue. They also briefed the passersby on adopting precautionary measures to defeat dengue. The special children were the focus of activity who gave very loud and clear message to society that if they could understand the importance of cleanliness then why not everyone around? Earlier the company had deployed more than 500 workers and machinery of Albayrak to give the area a waste free look. In the special cleaning operation, almost 50 open plots were cleared of waste.
