IJT Opposing Admission of Girls in Science College Lahore
Lahore : September 28:  The Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has rejected the claim by the principal of Govt College of Science, Lahore, that the student organization was opposing the admission of girl students to the college.
It is pertinent to mention that there were various media reports against Jamiat in which the principal had claimed that the student organisation’s was opposing the admission of female students.
Talking to The News on Friday, the principal said that the IJT was against admission of girl students to the college, adding the female students were fed up with the students group. He said that, being administrator of the college, it was his duty to promote agenda of equal opportunity to students following the government’s open merit policy.
Prof Zahid said there were around 500 girl students in the college enrolled in BS and MA/MSc programmes. No one would be allowed to rob the students of their right, he added.
Talking about delay in the results, the principal said the college was affiliated with the Punjab University and the university was responsible for the conduct of BS programmes and announcement of results.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the IJT Lahore chapter spokesperson said that the principal’s claim was baseless and an attempt to get “political fame”. He said Jamiat never opposed the admission of female students to the Govt College of Science, Wahdat Road. He said the students had protested over extraordinary delay in completion of the BS programme which had annoyed the principal, Prof Zahid Butt. The news.
