PDA Doctors continue token strike
PESHAWAR: A token strike launched by the members of the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) in three major tertiary care hospitals of the provincial metropolis entered the third day on Wednesday. The doctors observed protest at three public sector teaching hospitals — Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex — by wearing black armbands. They also staged peaceful protest after accusing the provincial health department of not taking any notice of what they termed their ‘genuine problems’. The doctors complained that officials of the health department had always made promises with them when they went on strike but these were never fulfilled after the medical community ended the protest at the request of the government. The PDA has already announced complete strike from July 1 and stay from wards, outpatient departments and operation theatres to press for their demands. The news
