PU ex-Employee Held over Suicide Attempt
Lahore : August 30: POLICE have registered a case against former employee of the Punjab University and arrested him for attempting suicide along with his children in front of the Vice Chancellor’s Office on Thursday.
Sardar Muhammad, former Assistant In charge of PU Establishment, who was dismissed from service over his alleged involvement in corruption, a few months back, had announced on Wednesday to commit suicide by setting himself ablaze along with his children as a token of protest against, what he said, injustice meted out to him by the PU administration. On Thursday, the police reached the spot and captured him along with his sons and took them to the police station.

Meanwhile, Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has condemned the PUVC for his indifferent attitude towards PU employees saying due to his (VC) victimisation acts, PU employees had been forced to adopt such ways to show their resentment.
IJT office-bearers, in a statement issued here Thursday, have demanded removal of the VC and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the situation. The news.
