No headway in BISE scam probe
Mirpurkhas:May 06: The committee tasked with conducting inquiry into allegations of corruption and irregularities in financial and administrative matters in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas, has failed to submit its report to the chief minister within 15 days.
More than 20 days has passed to the inception of the committee, which was formed by the commissioner of Mirpurkhas division, Sajid Jamal Abro, on the directives of chief minister but it has not made any progress on the assigned task, according to sources.
The sources said the chief minister had directed the commissioner to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the budget, funds, accounts, recruitments, hiring of staff and examinations conducted by the board and submit him a report.
The commissioner for-med the enquiry committee on April 16 with deputy commissioner Syed Mehdi Ali Shah as its convener and secretary additional deputy commissioner-1, director of schools education Jalil Lashari, district accounts officer Hassan Jan Changezi and regional director of colleges Dr Saeeduddin Ahmed as members.
The committee would submit its report on the performance of BISE in all respects within 15 days, so said the commissioner’s order.

The sources said the committee was scheduled to meet on April 30 but the bo-ard officers abstained from attending it at the pretext of being busy in annual examinations of intermediate.

About a month ago, the All Pakistan Clerks Association, Mirpurkhas chapter, and APCA’s BISE unit had launched a protest campaign against the board chairman and his officials and leveled serious allegations of corruption on them at a press conference.

In retaliation, the board chairman victimised a large number of employees and union leaders who were protesting against him. He dismissed from service, suspended, issued show cause notices, reverted and demoted many office-bearers of the APCA and other low-ranking employees as a punishment for revealing corruption, said the sources.Dawn.
