Applicants upset over Rs 2,000 fee
Lahore University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences
Lahore:September 16: THE applicants applying for various posts of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) have expressed concern over collection of a non-refundable fee of Rs 2,000 for applications.
The posts of, one each, public relation officer (PRO), transport officer, assistant estate management officer, manager student financial aid and manager university advancement were advertised recently. While the advertisement was silent about crossed bank draft/pay order of Rs 2,000 (non refundable), the varsity website mentioned the same in detail.
A concerned citizen, Awais, said keeping in view high unemployment rate it was obvious that hundreds if not thousands of people would apply against the said posts, adding that collection of Rs 2,000 was great injustice with unemployed youth. He suggested that the varsity should collect nominal processing fee and should not plan to mint money through such means.
Another applicant said the Punjab government should take notice of the issue and provide relief to the unemployed youth by reducing the fee. When contacted, UVAS VC Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said he did not know Rs 2,000 were being collected as non refundable fee. However, the VC justified the same saying it was approved by the UVAS Syndicate and was meant to cover expenses of the whole process. The news.
