SHC takes Notice of Delay in College Funds
Karachi :14 July : Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed chief secretary, secretaries of law and finance department to file comments on a petition by Shaheed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto Law College seeking remaining funds for its expansion. The petitioner, principal of the college, Riaz Hussain Lund, submitted that college was established in Malir district to cater to the needs of remote areas of the district. He stated before the judges that Chief Minister Sindh had acceded to his demand for funds for expansion of college and to fulfill other requirements of college, adding that CM had sanctioned Rs15 million grant in aid. Principal of the college said that first installment of grant in aid worth Rs7.5 million was released to him after approval of budget 2012-2013 He added that finance secretary had withheld the remaining amount without any plausible reason. He prayed to the court to direct finance secretary to immediately release remaining amount of grant in aid. A division bench headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai issued notice to respondents asking them to file replies. ppi.
