Punjab government 60,000 youth to be provided vocational training

LAHORE (APP): Punjab government has planned to provide market oriented technical and vocational training to 60,000 youth to enable them to launch their own small scale business and to provide an educated workforce in the industry and agriculture sectors.

This was disclosed by Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed while talking to a students' delegation from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad at his office here Tuesday. He said that the government has made a 28 percent increase in the TEVTA grant, and a sum of Rs 2.3 billion has been provided to give quality technical education to the youth. "We are encouraging small and medium industry in Punjab to help create more jobs and employment opportunities for the youth," he maintained, adding that micro finance loaning scheme has been envisaged with a grant of Rs one billion, while Rs 400 million has been provided for the promotion of the cottage industry. The minister maintained that the youth have a multifarious role in strengthening of democracy, and they should act as a vanguard of democracy in the country.
