Medical college to be built in Mansehra
PESHAWAR:18 December:The provincial government has disclosed plans to build a medical college in Mansehra apart from resolving the staffing situation at health facilities in the Hazara Division.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday while chairing a meeting on development in the Hazara Division at the CM House.

Mahmood directed the relevant authorities to submit an in-depth report on the problems faced by Basic Health Care Units (BHUs) and schools in the division, particularly those located in isolated and remote areas of the mountainous regions. The report, he said, must focus on issues such as missing facilities and non-availability of staff.

Mahmood further directed the relevant departments to hold a joint meeting for the establishment of a medical college in Manshera and ordered officials to complete their homework on rehabilitating all roads in the division.

He promised that healthcare units in the division will be fully equipped to ensure the provision of healthcare to locals in difficult-to-access mountainous parts of the province while filling gaps in service delivery.

In this regard, Mahmood said that developmental schemes proposed by elected representatives will be funded on priority for their timely completion.

“The government is committed to complete all projects and utilise its resources effectively,” he added.

The meeting was informed that some 226 developmental projects, worth over Rs74 billion have been planned for the division.

Of this, Rs7.956 billion have been allocated in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the ongoing fiscal year 2020-21. Of this, Rs5 billion have been released so far.

Some 85 developmental schemes, worth over Rs22 billion, have been planned for the Abbottabad district. Similarly, 71 developmental schemes worth Rs27 billion have been planned for the Haripur district, whereas 44 developmental schemes worth Rs10.57 billion have been planned for Mansehra.

For Battagram, Kohistan and Torghar, some 70 development projects worth Rs14.29 billion have been reflected in ADP.

Mahmood directed to devise standard operating procedures (SOPs) for civil work, rehabilitation and improvement of roads located in Guzara forest areas.Published in The Express Tribune,
