BISE Hyderabad declares 99% students successful
HYDERABAD:8 November:The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad announced the results for Higher Secondary Certificate part II on Saturday, declaring 99 per cent of the candidates - a total of 51,365 students out of 51,569 - successful.

The board was unable to hold written exams or viva due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Female students eclipsed their male counterparts, clinching all the top positions in the pre-medical, pre-engineering and science general groups.

According to the result gazette, as many as 31,585 students, including 15,313 boys and 16,272 girls, were registered for the pre-medical group exams. As many as 31,483 students passed, with 1,765 securing A-1 grades, 2,604 A grades, 6,199 B grades, 7,581 C grades and 11,109 D grades.

Meanwhile, 18,788 students, with 2,178 girls and 16,610 boys, were registered for the pre-engineering examinations. Of them, 18,691 were successful. As many as 994 students received A-1 grades, 690 A grades, 3,339 B grades, 4,650 C grades and 6,781 D grades.

Moreover, only one student of the science general group managed to secure an A-1 grade, while 57 students received A grades, 118 B grades, 243 C grades, 547 D grades of a total of 1,191 registered students.

Sanjana Kumari of Tando Muhammad Khan district, and Sunaina Bhimani and Varsha Kumari of Hyderabad district bagged the top three positions in the pre-medical group.

In the pre-engineering group, Aalimah Ahmed topped the results, while Laiba Akhtar and Amna Nadeem stood second and Yasha Azmat was third.

Kashaf, Mehak Naz and Maryam secured the first, second and third positions, respectively, in the science general group.

"This year, the HSC result is based on the promotion policy approved by the Sindh government and hence, no positions were announced. However, overall merit order is maintained in the result as per policy," explained BISE chairperson Dr Muhammad Memon.

BISE Hyderabad's jurisdiction covers nine districts of the Hyderabad division and one district of Nawabshah division.Published in The Express Tribune,
